About
Dr. Anjali Borhade is a founder president of the Disha Foundation, a leading NGO working in migrant health in India. Disha has been declared a Centre of Excellence in Migration, Health and Development by the Government of India. She has an MS in social work, an MPH in International Health from Tulane University, USA, and a PhD in Population Health from the University of Oxford, UK.
She is a pioneer public health professional in India, with specific expertise and passion on urbanisation, rural and tribal migration, livelihood, urban health and development issues.In the last 20 years, she has actively engaged in various research,implementation and high level advocacy initiatives on migration, public health and related issues.She has provided technical support to various state and national governments and UN agencies including UNIFEM, UNICEF, UNESCO and UNDP for improving programs and policies for vulnerable populations in India and other low and middle income countries.She has provided technical support to WHO SEARO and WHO headquarters for development ofregional and global strategy and action plans and the first world report on migrants and refugee health.
